Where is Maryland?
A Map of Maryland
Climate and Geography
It is warm in Maryland, so winters are easy to survive unlike the northern colonies. Because of our warm climate, it is easier for us to grow crops year round. The summers vary from mild to hot so intense climate is not a problem in our colony. Maryland is separated into three major geographic regions: the Appalachian region, the Piedmont Plateau, and the Atlantic Coastal Plain. Maryland is surrounded by waterways and has many coves, creeks, and islands. There are many rivers, the most significant one being the Potomac river. The Chesapeake Bay, the largest estuary in the world, divides the state. Maryland is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on the east; Pennsylvania to the north; West Virginia to the west; and Virginia to the south.
